Special Teams Ace: Nate Ebner
Kicker: Chandler Catanzaro**
Analysis:
The NY Giants special teams should be a good unit in 2020.
Joe Judge’s background is in special teams and his Patriots had some of the best special teams in the league for several years under his tutelage.
Riley Dixon is back after being arguably the Giants’ most consistent player amidst a losing season last year. His directional punting and ability to pin teams deep will be important for the Giants’ defense.
Casey Kreiter looks to take over for at long snapper, a job held by Zak DeOssie for the past 13 years. Nate Ebner joins Judge from New England where he excelled as one of the league’s top pure special teamers.
Lastly, after Aldrick Rosas was cut after his driving incident, the NY Giants signed Chandler Catanzaro. Catanzaro spent last season out of football after retiring shortly after missing two extra points against Big Blue last preseason.
Simply put, Catanzaro is neither an intriguing or inspiring signing. He retired last season after struggling all offseason and never really found much consistency in his NFL career. I would be surprised if he was the team’s kicker come Week 1 and I do expect more kickers to be signed in the coming weeks.
