Daniel Jones surprised many during his 2019 rookie season and heads into year two with the NY Giants with legit high-upside potential.

For so long the NY Giants were led by Eli Manning, but now, Saquon Barkley and a new wave of Giants have taken over. Daniel Jones is shaping up to be that next guy in line.

In his rookie year, Daniel Jones impressed in his 12 starts but he also had some flaws in his game exposed. Jones showed off his big play ability. He showed he had the potential to gain a lot of yards on the ground through designed runs or plays that blow up.

The former Duke QB also showed the ability to accurately throw the deep ball despite some critics thinking he would struggle in that regard at the next level. ‘Danny Dimes’ ended his impressive rookie season with 3,027 yards passing yards, 24 touchdowns with an additional 2 rushing touchdowns.

Just two TD’s away from breaking the record despite missing four games, the sky is the limit for ‘DJ’ in year two with the NY Giants, especially with Jason Garrett taking over as offensive coordinator.

Jones’s biggest flaw in his rookie year was ball security. The young signal-caller lost a whopping11 fumbles in his 12 starts — he had 18 total. He also had 12 interceptions, which really isn’t bad considering he was a rookie.

Jones has made it a priority to keep the ball out of opposing defender’s hands during this quarantine period and now in training camp.

It won’t be easy for Daniel Jones and the NY Giants. The GMEN have a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator, new offensive lineman and they like everyone are dealing with the COVID pandemic.

It’s not all new personnel however as Jones essentially has the same skill group returning for his second year. Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and Golden Tate are all back. This has the potential to be an elite offensive group and Jones will be the leader with Barkley.

Will we see a new era of NY Giants captains?

They are the faces of the franchise and both could be offensive captains in 2020.

Danny Dimes has heard a lot of high praise as he’s geared up for this upcoming season despite the unusual circumstances.

His work started right after the season with former Duke Coach David Cutcliffe and trainer David Morris. He made his rookie head coach proud by organizing workouts and adding serious muscle to his physique.

The reports from camp have been solid and we have seen a lot of videos of Jones making strong throws. The sophomore QB has worked to become the best football player he can be but also to be the leader of this team with Saquon Barkley.

Bigger, stronger, and faster are some words you can use to describe Jones when comparing him to his NFL counterparts.

It is said that Jones has added about 9 pounds of muscle over the course of this weird offseason.

The hope is the added strength and more focus on ball security will lead to fewer turnovers. Jones has put in the work and will continue to, and Andrew Thomas should be a massive upgrade over Nate Solder at left tackle — even right out of the gates as a rookie.

Despite a good rookie year that saw him come close to breaking all-time NFL records, he still has doubters he will have to continue to prove wrong. The NY Giants face a lot of tough defenses this year but Jones is hoping to take a leap to stardom in year 2 — I wouldn’t bet against him.
