Promising young NY Giants WR out for season with injury
David Sills V was coming on strong during his second training camp with the NY Giants but will not miss the 2020 season due to injury.
Man, just when it seemed like the NY Giants may have finally found the big-bodied wideout they so desperately need he couldn’t even make it through an abbreviated training camp without going through multiple ailments.
First, David Sills V came down with COVID-19, only for him to battle back from that illness to impress the coaching staff and look like he was on track to make the 2020 NY Giants roster.
Sills V made then made it all the way through the rest of training camp only to reportedly suffer a serious injury right at the end.

This is a big-time bummer for the NY Giants are right now, Daniel Jones doesn’t have any big wideout targets to throw to unless the team decides to give one of the final roster spots to fellow undrafted 6’4” wideout Binjimen Victor.
Sills V is best known for lighting up the college scene at West Virginia as he led the entire NCAA in touchdowns during his Junior season. After the Buffalo Bills cut him and tried to sneak him onto their practice squad in 2019, Dave Gettleman pounced and did the same.
The former star high school quarterback prospect spent some time on the GMEN’s active roster at the end of 2019 but did not accrue any statistics.
Who will the NY Giants give his roster spot to?
David Sills V was not a total lock to make the NY Giants, but those in the know seemed to think it was all but a done deal. Now, things get interesting for a slew of undrafted wideouts that are hoping to crack the 53-man roster.
I would love to see Binjimen Victor out of Ohio State take over the 5th WR role (assuming Corey Coleman has already won the WR4 job) as again, this unit needs an infusion of size. However, those in the know believe CJ Board or Alex Bachman will command that final WR spot.
That would be a shame in my mind, as Jason Garrett’s offense favors taller wideouts that can win on the outside and the NY Giants are short on those types of players right now.
In any event, David Sills V’s NYG career doesn’t figure to be over as he was placed on injured reserve and he should be in the mix to compete for a job again next season.
