LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase might be an ideal fit for the NY Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft
The NY Giants are currently projected to pick No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, in prime position to possibly land Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence or Ohio State signal caller Justin Fields, but if the Giants add a couple of wins and fall down the board, they still could add a game-changing weapon.
Presuming that Daniel Jones remains the NY Giants’ quarterback in 2021, adding weapons around him must be a top priority, especially judging by the disappointing performance of the wide receiving corps this season.
In CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson’s latest 2021 NFL mock draft, help is on the way for Jones and the Giants.
Wilson has the Giants falling to the No. 4 pick, and selecting LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase:
The Giants would LOVE Sewell but he’s already off the board. And with no other offensive lineman currently worth a top-5 pick New York gets Daniel Jones a big-play wideout that can win at every level.
Chase, 6-foot and 207 pounds, is widely viewed as the top receiver in this year’s class, particularly after Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle out for the season after suffering an ankle injury.
What might make Chase an ideal fit for the Giants’ offense is his ability to be a playmaker after the catch. So far this season, Chase is averaging 13.6 yards per reception.
If the Giants are able to pair Chase with Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard in the slot next season, Jones would certainly have a formidable trio of weapons in the passing game at his disposal.
