Sam Beal & Other Fringe Corners:

For all the talk about his love of hog-mollies, there’s no position Gettleman loves picking more than cornerback.

Many thought the Giants’ secondary was complete after the signing of Adoree’ Jackson, so it was a surprise to see the team draft not one, but two corners in the NFL Draft. While players like James Bradberry, Logan Ryan and Jabrill Peppers have nothing to worry about, others fighting for rosters spots may be out of luck.

Sam Beal, Julian Love, Isaac Yiadom and Quincy Wilson were already battling each-other for playing time. Now, they’ll have to beat out two rookies as well – Aaron Robinson (71st overall) and Rodarius Williams (201st overall).

Even last years promising rookie, Darnay Holmes, may face competition from the rookies. The Giants were reportedly very high on Robinson, and his ability to play man-to-man could see him steal some snaps from the sophomore corner.

While you can never have too many solid corners, there’s going to be some odd men out. There’s only so many roster spots that can be given to players in the secondary.

One thing’s for sure: the training camp battles for said roster spots promise to be must-see.
