Offensive tackle

That the NY Giants did not select an offensive lineman, let alone an offensive tackle, during the NFL Draft was one of the weekend’s biggest surprises.

After all, Daniel Jones was sacked 45 times last season, with 12 of those sacks being charged to Andrew Thomas and Matt Peart, who are expected to be the NY Giants’ bookends.

Nate Solder could provide a veteran boost to a young offensive line and will likely challenge Peart for the starting tackle job. But, Solder enters the 2021 season at at 33, and prior to opting out last season he allowed 11 sacks and 56 pressures in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus.

Clearly, Gettleman and the NY Giants value their line more than most, and believe that last year’s struggles were a reflection of poor coaching rather than talent. But, there are several offensive tackles currently available who could push for starting jobs, if the NY Giants look to add depth here.

Best remaining free agents: Charles Leno, Russell Okung, Rick Wagner
