Rodarius Williams becomes a key depth piece
Gettleman continued to add depth to his secondary when he drafted Oklahoma State’s Rodarius Williams with the team’s final selection.
Williams, who will be 25 years old to start the season, was one of the most reliable players for Mike Gundy’s Cowboys. In the pass-happy Big 12 conference, Williams allowed just 11 catches on 27 targets in nine games.
He’s shown the ability to play man-to-man effectively on the outside – something that should be music to Graham’s ears. As the Giants’ defense looks to play more press defense, he could be a valuable addition.
For those reasons, Williams’ spot on the depth chart will rise above players other outside corners – like Isaac Yiadom.
The Giants went searching for cornerback depth all season last year – Yiadom, Ryan Lewis and Corey Ballentine all getting their chances. While Yiadom was the best of the group, Williams has a shot to push him down the depth chart.
Williams already said he’s ‘loving every bit’ of Giants’ culture – that love will only grow as he becomes a key cog in the team’s well-oiled machine of a defense.
