4) Darnay Holmes

Holmes arrived on the scene and quickly emerged as one of the NY Giants’ most consistent slot cornerbacks after being chosen in the fourth-round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Opposing quarterbacks had a meager 91.2 passer rating when targeting Holmes, who produced a 48.8 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus, while holding opposing receivers to just 9.9 yards per reception in 307 coverage snaps.

Holmes could see some competition if he hopes to reprise his role as the starting slot cornerback in Patrick Graham’s defense, especially after the NY Giants chose slot corner Aaron Robinson during the 2021 NFL Draft. Robinson arrives at 6-foot-1 and 194 pounds with the reputation as a ballhawk during his time at UCF.

But, if Holmes opens the season as the starter, the fact that he was targeted a league-high among rookies, 52 times, without allowing a touchdown gives him a high ceiling and high breakout potential in Year 2 of his career.
