3) Clayton Thorson

Last season, Thorson was elevated from the NY Giants’ practice squad on Dec. 5, while Jones was sidelined.

It remains to be seen whether the NY Giants will carry three quarterbacks into the regular season, but Thorson certainly qualifies as a developmental prospect, and arrives in East Rutherford with some knowledge of the Philadelphia Eagles’ personnel.

While it is a new coaching staff, and scheme, in Philadelphia, Thorson was chosen by the Eagles in the fifth-round of the 2019 NFL Draft and while he didn’t make the roster out of training camp, he did practice against many of the same players the Giants will face in 2021. Thorson was also a member of the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad the past two seasons.

If Thorson winds up making the roster, he will likely be inactive on game days and serve as the emergency quarterback, behind Jones and Glennon.
