The NY Giants were among the biggest spenders during free agency this offseason, but with training camp and the 2021 season approaching, more help could be on the way

The NY Giants could use some added depth to help some positions, and signing these available free agents would be a huge help in case someone gets injured or to help the team get better overall.

This past offseason, NY Giants general manager Dave Gettleman went shopping at the top of the market, landing some of the biggest playmakers available on both sides of the ball, to buttress what the Giants hope is a playoff caliber roster.

Kenny Golladay and John Ross were added in hopes of adding reliability and speed at wide receiver to help hasten quarterback Daniel Jones’ development and ignite what was a stagnant offense in 2020.

Meanwhile, on defense, the NY Giants brought back Leonard Williams, added Ifeadi Odenigbo, and perhaps the most impactful defensive addition of all, plucked cornerback Adoree’ Jackson to step in at outside cornerback, opposite James Bradberry.

Now, after perusing the top shelf this spring, Gettleman and the NY Giants could look to add value and additional veteran leadership to help push this year’s roster over the top.

Here’s a look at five cheap remaining NFL free agents the NY Giants should sign to help bolster the 2021 roster:

1. LB KJ Wright

K.J. Wright has been one of the most consistent linebackers in the league. He has 941 tackles throughout his 10-year career. He’s very reliable and a good leader, and the Giants who have a young LB core could use a veteran like him. If the Giants think they’re in competing mode, they should go after him.

The NY Giants already signed Ryan Anderson this offseason, but Wright has the track record, veteran leadership, and enough remaining upside to compete for the starting job alongside Pro Bowl caliber inside linebacker Blake Martinez immediately.
