NY Giants’ Defense is a top 10 unit

The jump that the NY Giants made defensively was nothing short of impressive.

With Patrick Graham as the new defensive coordinator along with the additions of James Bradberry, Blake Martinez, Logan Ryan, and a breakout year from Leonard Williams the NY Giants going went from 30th in points allowed per game in 2019 to 9th in 2020.

Along with the veterans that helped change the Giants’ identity on defense, they have an exciting young core. Dexter Lawrence, Jabrill Peppers, Xavier McKinney, and Darnay Holmes each played huge roles in the defense’s improvement.

Through free agency and the draft, they also added players that figure to play big roles this upcoming season. Adoree Jackson provides an immediate upgrade as the team’s second cornerback. With the loss of Dalvin Tomlinson, the Giants signed Danny Shelton to fill that void. In the draft, they added edge rusher Azeez Ojulari and cornerback Aaron Robinson – both of whom figure to make an immediate impact and add more versatility.

If the NY Giants’ veterans can play at the same level they did last year and their younger players play up to their potential, then there’s no reason why the Giants’ defense can’t become one of the best units in 2021.
