Safeties (4)

Jabrill Peppers, Logan Ryan, Julian Love, Xavier McKinney

Versatility will be the name of the game for the NY Giants’ safeties. Especially because of defensive coordinator Patrick Graham’s propensity for playing three safety looks.

Ryan’s arrival brought much-needed veteran stability to the secondary last season, and allowed Graham to deploy Peppers more up near the line of scrimmage both as a blitzer as well as in run-support.

McKinney has the potential to be a breakout star for the NY Giants in his second NFL season.

Love’s ability to play either safety or slot cornerback could push one of the corners off the roster, if there’s a numbers crunch at another position.

Quincy Wilson made a strong push for a roster spot Sunday, especially with an interception off Browns QB Case Keenum, but an ankle injury could make his climb onto the roster a bit steeper.

No real surprises here, but expect Ryan Santoso to parlay his impressive training camp and preseason performance into a roster spot somewhere in the NFL this season.

Santoso’s chances of winding up elsewhere were boosted by reports Sunday that the NY Giants have received calls expressing interest in their backup kicker.
