Daniel Jones’ Best Throw of the Day

Daniel Jones had quite an impressive day.

The NY Giants had a career-high in ‘explosive plays’ with Jones under center. The Giants had at least 8 plays of 20+ yards gained, something they haven’t been able to do nearly enough in three years with Jones.

One area Jones happens to shine but the Giants rarely use would be the deep ball. Jones is smart, efficient, accurate, and successful when taking shots downfield. He displayed these traits to his best form this week.

In the 2nd quarter of the game, the game remained a 0-0 stalemate. The Giants punted their first two drives and then followed up with their first missed field goal of the season. After the Saints followed up with a missed field goal of their own, the NY Giants’ offense went straight to work.

On the first play of a new drive from the Giants’ 48-yard line, Jones struck gold immediately. Coming out of 12 personnel with two tight ends (Engram and Rudolph), one running back (Saquon), and two receivers (Golladay and Ross), the Giants looked to hit the big play.

John Ross streaked down the field right through the heart of the Saints’ defense. Jones hit him right in stride between the two Saints’ defenders for a great connection 40+ yards downfield. Ross did the rest of the work and did a great job tracking down the ball and sticking with it for a huge touchdown.

Jones showed a knack for perfect touch and ball placement on this throw. These types of plays should be a staple of the New York offense. It remains to be seen if this becomes a new trend or simply a blip on the radar.
