NY Giants game ball No. 1: QB Daniel Jones
This can’t come as a surprise.
Daniel Jones played possibly his best game of football yet in his career. Which is something that has occurred multiple times so far this year.
In the midst of what seems to be a breakout year for the 3rd year QB, Jones was a key factor in delivering the first victory of the year for this Giants squad.
Jones’ final stats for the game: 28/40 (70%), 402 passing yards yards, which is a new career high, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. Keep in mind that the interception came off of a hail mary attempt at the end of the 1st half.
Jones delivered a strike in the second quarter to John Ross on a beautiful 52 yard pass for a touchdown to bring the Giants up 7-0 to start the game.
While the scoring went quiet for most of the 2nd half it was more of bad play calling from Jason Garrett than anything else.
Entering the 4th quarter the game seemed over. The Saints were driving to what eventually became an 8 yard Taysom Hill rushing TD to increase the lead to 21-10, and the Giants seemed to have no life in their offense.
That was until on 1st and 10 with 6:52 remaining in the game Saquon Barkley was lined up out wide and Jones delivered another beautiful pass for a 54 yard TD to bring the Giants back into the game.
After a huge stop by the defense the Giants regained the ball with 3:07 left in the game, down 21-18.
With the game on the line Jones began to carve up the Saints defense, completing pass after pass, including a 28 yard bomb to Kenny Golladay to bring the NY Giants into field goal range. Where the Giants would then put the game in the hands of veteran kicker Graham Gano to send the game into overtime.
After winning the coin toss the Giants got the ball to start off overtime. Right off the bat you could tell Jones wanted to win this game, delivering a 17 yard pass to John Ross in the first play to get the Giants offense going. After driving down the field Jones would deliver what would end up being the dagger on a 23 yard pass to a wide open Kenny Golladay. Which then set up for a Saquon Barkley game winning TD.
