Veteran cornerback James Bradberry understands just how important the NY Giants’ upset of the Saints was, and what it could mean for the rest of this season

The NY Giants were already staring down the barrel of a lost season when they arrived in New Orleans 0-3, but after upsetting the Saints in overtime on Sunday afternoon, the questions and persistent blame for another sluggish start can subside for at least a week.

“It meant a lot for us,” Giants cornerback James Bradberry told reporters Monday of Sunday’s victory. “Because we knew if we lost, we were going to be 0-4. 0-3 was terrible, 0-4 would’ve been worse.”

In some ways, Sunday’s 27-21 upset win has the chance to be a turning point for this NY Giants team.

Quarterback Daniel Jones had the finest performance of his career, passing for a career-high 402 yards with two touchdowns to one interception.

Bradberry did his part, pulling down an interception, and the defense largely held up against one of the league’s most prolific offenses.

Now, the task for the NY Giants is to build on Sunday’s victory, ahead of the teeth of a buzzsaw, Sunday afternoon against the high-powered and NFC East leading Dallas Cowboys.

"“It was definitely a momentum booster for us,” Bradberry said. “A morale booster for us and I feel like it gives us a little bit of momentum. Dallas is definitely a tough opponent, so we’ll just have to prepare as hard this week just as we did last week.”"

For at least one more week, the focus on the outside can be on the NY Giants’ matchups against the Cowboys, rather than calls for offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to be fired or mounting criticism of head coach Joe Judge.

Take care of business, and pull off a second consecutive upset victory, this time of the Cowboys, and the entire trajectory of the NY Giants’ season just might change.
