Kadarius Toney’s coming out party

The NY Giants got a glimpse of the player they believed they were selecting with the No. 11 overall pick in this spring’s NFL Draft, when Kadarius Toney’s playmaking ability after the catch was on full display.

Toney caught passes of 20 yards, 35 yards, and 44 yards through the first three quarters, making the kind of moves that left multiple defenders in his wake.

Repeatedly, Toney’s athleticism shined through with some spectacular receptions, particularly in the third quarter when Toney went up over Jourdan Lewis along the sideline, pulling down a Herculean reception from Mike Glennon.

Toney appeared to injure his foot on the reception, but returned shortly thereafter.

In addition to his impact as a receiver, Toney stepped into the wildcat inside the five-yard line and streaked up the middle, before spinning forward for a four-yard gain, offering yet another glimpse of how he can make an impact.

With Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and Kenny Golladay out, Toney emerged as the NY Giants’ primary weapon in the passing game. He certainly looked the part, catching 10 passes for 189 yards, and added a seven-yard run.

However, the NY Giants now must worry about whether Toney will be suspended, after throwing a punch and being ejected in the final moments Sunday.
