Sunday afternoon was a nightmare scenario for the NY Giants, in a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys

The NY Giants suffered a disastrous loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, with the 44-20 final being the last of New York’s worries..

From before the opening whistle, through the final gun, the injuries seemed endless for the Giants. It was if the NY Giants could not catch a break.

However, if you break this game down you can find three stats that defined the reasons as to why we lost this week.

Here are 3 disastrous stats that defined this week’s NY Giants loss to the Cowboys

Number 1:  5 injuries

Now this isn’t exactly an official stat, but it very obviously had an effect on the game.

Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas came into this week listed as questionable with a foot injury. When the Giants began their pre game warm ups it seemed as if he was going to play. However, even after being listed as active, Thomas did not play a single snap.

This was likely a safety precaution to not risk further injury on Thomas’s foot.

Thomas missing this week’s game killed the NY Giants offense. Nate Solder proved yet again that he is not even close to a starting caliber tackle in this league, getting bullied play after play.

It’s safe to assume that barring any setbacks, Thomas will be playing next week against the Rams.

Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley went out in the first quarter after twisting his ankle badly on the foot of Jourdan Lewis.

After being taken to the sideline his ankle began to swell up severely, causing the cart to come out and take Barkley to the locker room where he was then ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Barkley’s explosiveness was missed badly by this Giants offense as Devontae Booker cannot produce to nearly the same level as Saquon.

Initial reports suggest Barkley suffered a low ankle sprain, and could be week-to-week.

Daniel Jones

Jones was struggling to start the game. However, it was not entirely his fault. As I previously stated, he was already missing both Saquon Barkley and Andrew Thomas, two players that are crucial to his success.

During the second quarter the Giants started driving down the field until they got to the Cowboys 1 yard line. Where after two unsuccessful attempts to score, the Giants ran a play for Jones to run out left and try to beat the pylon.

However, two defenders for the Cowboys read the play and chased Jones. After making an absolutely spectacular effort to score, Jones led his helmet into Jabril Cox. He remained on the ground for a moment, and after attempting to walk away Jones stumbled on thin air. It was clear from that moment that Jones had a concussion. He was then carted off the field and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

After this it was clear the Giants would have a very rough time winning this game with Mike Glennon under center.

Kenny Golladay

Golladay seemingly disappeared on the field causing many to wonder what had happened to him.

It was all of a sudden announced in the 3rd quarter that Golladay was out for the remainder of the game with a knee injury.

Golladay announced after the game that he hyperextended his knee during the first quarter of the game.

Rodarius Williams

Williams didn’t play much this game but went out after an apparent knee injury in the 3rd quarter.

Not much is known about the injury at the moment, but judging by the fact that they needed a cart to take him off the field I’d assume it’s not good.
