Traits NY Giants should look for in Dave Gettleman’s replacement as GM

Has a successful track record

Aside from analytics, John Mara should be looking for someone that has won before.

At minimum someone that has had success in rebuilding or talent development. Two key areas Gettleman severely lacked in with the NY Giants.

The jackpot is a veteran successful GM that has found their way through the gauntlet of changes in today’s NFL.  It is more likely that Mara finds a young up-and-comer who has been in the role of Assistant GM or Talent evaluator for a successful franchise.

Either path that is chosen needs to lead to someone who knows how to win, as that is what the NY Giants have done in a very long time.
