Several NY Giants players could be auditioning for a spot on the roster in 2022 and beyond, over the final three weeks of the 2021 NFL season

The NY Giants have little left to play for, after already clinching a fifth consecutive losing season, which makes playing young players down the stretch to get meaningful snaps a bit adventageous.

Likewise, there are several veteran players who could be playing for their future in the coming weeks against the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and Washington Football Team.

Next season, the Giants‘ roster is going to look dramatically different, especially given the constraints of limited cap space, but several players might need a strong finish this season to ensure they’ll be on the roster next season.

Here’s a look at three NY Giants players playing for their jobs over the final three weeks:

NY Giants WR Darius Slayton

Typically, NFL receivers breakout and take a significant step towards reaching their potential in their third NFL season.

Darius Slayton has done anything but.

Even as Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney have both missed significant time due to injury, Slayton has regressed dramatically this season.

After seemingly outplaying his status as a former fifth-round draft choice the past two seasons, Slayton looks like a bottom of the roster player this season.

Through the first 13 games of the season, Slayton has caught just 21 of his 46 targets for 280 yards and one touchdown. Slayton has also dropped six passes. If Slayton doesn’t play significantly better down the stretch, there’s a real chance he’ll be on the outside looking in this offseason given everything the NY Giants have invested in Kenny Golladay, Toney, etc.
