Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen is the first general manager candidate to get a second interview with the New York Giants

The New York Giants have scheduled a second interview with Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen, to fill the organization’s general manager vacancy, sources confirm to FanSided.

Schoen is the first general manager candidate to receive a second interview as the Giants search for a replacement for the retired Dave Gettleman.

News of Schoen’s interview was first reported by the New York Post.

Schoen is one of the more attractive general manager candidates this offseason, after his input in building a Bills roster that boasts at top-five offense and top-five defense this season. He has also interviewed with the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, so far.

If Schoen winds up in East Rutherford, his connections to the likes of Brian Dabbol, Leslie Frazier, and Brian Flores, could create some fascinating general manager-head coaching tandems for the New York Giants.

Schoen also carries added cache for the New York Giants, because of his connection to Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells. Pacells hired Schoen as a scout with the Miami Dolphins, and Giants owner John Mara obviously would value Parcells’ opinion.

The New York Giants have interviewed nine candidates thus far, all over ZOOM, but second interviews are slated to take place in person, with Schoen leading off.
