New York Giants 7 Round Mock Draft: Fleecing division rivals with trades, adding starters
By Ryan Messick
Round 3, Pick No. 81: Jamaree Salyer, OL, Georgia
The first thing to note is that I didn’t list him as a tackle, guard, or center – but an offensive lineman. Salyer’s ability to move around the line is a great attribute when drafting someone into the situation he’d arrive into in New York. The Giants essentially have their starters along the line after drafting Cross, so Salyer would be developing behind the Giants veteran acquisitions on the interior this offseason and serving as a backup who could slide in wherever needed.
If you Google him, you’ll see some scouting reports handling him as a tackle and others as an interior lineman. Given that he’s 6’3 and 325 pounds, I think he projects well on the interior – and that’s what the Giants would be hoping, as well.
The Draft Network touts his physicality in the run game, as well as his nastiness. One of his weaknesses is defending against the outside rush as a tackle, but that’s not a concern if he plays guard. Never the less, his tackle experience is value from a depth perspective.
