NY Giants Day 3 Draft Target: David Bell, WR, Purdue

David Bell had a rather uninspiring combine performance, running a 4.65 40-yard dash, which has led to a plummet in his draft stock. While Bell might not be as explosive as the scouts were led to believe, his production is still undeniable.

Bell had multiple memorable games for his Purdue Boilermakers last season. On November 6, against the undefeated number three team in the nation, Michigan State, Bell had 11 catches for 214 yards and a touchdown. On October 16, on the road against the undefeated number two team in the nation, Iowa, Bell had 11 catches for 240 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown, against one of the best defenses in the country.

Bell has more receiving yards since he entered college in 2019 than any other Big Ten receiver, with 2,977 – that’s over three hundred more yards than the next receiver, likely top 15-pick, Ohio State wideout Chris Olave.

While Bell is a bit bigger and slower than his ex-teammate and current Arizona Cardinal, Rondale Moore, his game style and production level is very similar. In the later stages of the draft, especially at the wide receiver position, it is important to make picks who can be trusted to produce and Bell nicely fits that need.
