NFL insider gives NY Giants glowing review for 2022 NFL Draft picks
The excitement from the job NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen did during the 2022 NFL Draft isn’t going to drop in the near future. Schoen has the fanbase believing again, with the additions of pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and offensive tackle Evan Neal leading the charge. Those two made plenty of noise at the rookie minicamp as well.
They weren’t the only ones, as multiple other picks – plus the undrafted free agents – really impressed. Just how strong was this draft for the G-Men as a whole? Countless scribes have called New York winners from the seven rounds and this now includes CBS insider Cody Benjamin.
NY Giants were clear NFL Draft winners and CBS is showing them love
“Who knows if Brian Daboll can win consistently with Daniel Jones, but the calendar is at least inviting a rebound for this franchise,” Benjamin wrote in his piece. “Four of their first six fall at home, and one of the two road games in that span comes on a neutral field in London.
“They play consecutive home games three different times. And after their nicely positioned Week 9 bye, they get the Texans and Lions before a seven-game stretch that includes five divisional games. They could be the Eagles of 2022: a holdover young QB with a new offensive coach capitalizing on a weak schedule to surprise out of the East.”
Those words from Benjamin should have people in the area amped for Week 1 to arrive. Not many people think this Giants roster can get the team to the playoffs, but you never know what might happen this campaign. There’s no team that jumps out as a lock to win the NFC East. You could argue between Philadelphia and Dallas, but both those squads have disappointed too.
Things aren’t going to change for the Giants overnight, but the amount of quality additions they landed via the draft has the future looking so darn bright. New York could surprise plenty of people this fall and winter and things are only going to get better in the coming years as well. We could all look back on this draft as what helped this organization get back to the level the NY supporters are used to.
