2. 2016 No. 10 pick Eli Apple

This was supposed to be a wonderful homecoming for Eli Apple. A product of Eastern Regional High in New Jersey, Apple went to Ohio State for his college ball and became one of the top cornerbacks in the Big Ten. This led to the Giants taking him No. 10 overall in the first round of the 2016 draft.

When Apple found out he’d be returning to New Jersey, he and his family were overcome with emotion. Things didn’t last long, however, as Apple was without question a big-time bust for New York. Apple appeared in 30 games for the Giants, making 23 starts. In that time, he was only able to record one interception.

He just wasn’t a good fit with the team’s defense. In 2017, Apple hit the bench several times throughout the campaign and was getting blasted by the fanbase from start to finish. Things reached a low point for him that year when he was suspended for the season finale against Washington due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Apple somehow returned to New York for the start of the 2018 campaign, but he only lasted five games. The Giants traded Apple to the New Orleans Saints. Apple is now with the Cincinnati Bengals and nowhere close to MetLife Stadium. This is most definitely a pick the Giants wish they had back.
