1. 2019 No. 30 pick DeAndre Baker

This was a selection that fans aren’t going to forgive former GM Dave Gettleman for. Coming out of Georgia, cornerback DeAndre Baker had all the potential to make a monster impact for the Giants defense. In his rookie season, the 5-11, 185-pounder impressed, starting 15 of 16 games. He finished with 61 tackles and eight pass deflections.

However, Baker was arrested in the offseason and charged with four counts of robbery with a firearm. He was released ahead of the 2020 campaign getting underway. In this incident, Baker had been accused of stealing watches and money from a group at a house party. Former Seattle Seahawks defensive back Quinton Dunbar was also involved, but his charges were dropped.

In the end, the charges were also dropped against Baker, as the accusers in this case were found to have been trying to extort money from the former Giant. They were hoping for big amount of money from the DB so they would mix up what they’d say in court. That’s of course a big no-no. With his name cleared, Baker signed with the Chiefs.

He’s played in 10 games for the AFC powerhouse over the past two seasons. The story had a rough ending for Baker with the Giants, as he was one and done with the organization. That’s never what you want to see happen with a first-round pick. Now, the team’s supporters are left wondering what could have been for Baker and the G-Men.
