All eyes are on the NY Giants this week, as the team kickstarted minicamp on Tuesday. With so many injuries at wide receiver, highlighted by Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney, it looks like general manager Joe Schoen wanted to bring in some more weapons to help quarterback Daniel Jones find his groove.

He’s done just that by bringing in a pair of wide receivers, who were present for minicamp with the rest of the team. According to Giants insider Art Stapleton, wideouts Isaiah Ford and Keelan Doss were on hand at practice for tryouts.

Starting off with Doss, he’s a big-bodied without who has been in the league since 2019. Doss appeared in nine total games for the Las Vegas Raiders, including eight in 2019. That fall, the 6-3, 215-pounder caught 11 balls for 133 yards. Doss was an undrafted free agent out of UC Davis, but took advantage of his shot with the Raiders.

Meanwhile for Ford, the 6-2, 195-pounder spent the past four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. In his four years with the Dolphins, Ford made three starts and appeared in 32 games. His best season with the AFC South side came in 2020, where he posted 28 receptions for 276 yards. Last season, Ford appeared in 13 games and caught two touchdowns.

Neither of these tryouts are the kind of ‘splash’ moves NY Giants fans were hoping for, but these two will have a chance to make some noise at camp if their stays are extended with so many guys donning red jerseys due to injury. This will of course be beneficial for Jones, as he’s in the middle of learning the new offense and he needs some studs to throw to.

With this being a tryout for the two wideouts, this really is a low-risk, high-reward move by the Giants. This comes a day after the team also brought in tight end Daniel Carlson for a tryout too. We’ll see if anything comes from these latest tryouts for Doss, Ford and Carlson, but it’s clear Schoen is busy trying to improve the roster, specifically on the offensive side of the ball.
