New NY Giants pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux hasn’t even suited up for a regular season game yet, but there’s talks about him setting multiple franchise records. The No. 5 overall pick was born to bring down the quarterback and plenty of people think he has what it takes to post more than eight sacks in his first year.

If Thibodeaux were to reach nine or more sacks in 2022, he’d break the rookie record set by Azeez Ojulari last season. Ojulari, who has put on around 10 pounds of muscle this offseason, was one of the few bright spots for the G-Men last fall and winter. Now, Ojulari is ready to see Thibodeaux reach his full potential and he’s rooting for him to top his eight sacks from 2021.

NY Giants OLB Azeez Ojulari is a big fan of Kayvon Thibodeaux

"“I’ll be excited,” Ojulari told NY Giants senior writer Michael Eisen on Thibodeaux potentially topping his mark. “We push each other out there already. To see him do that would be great, for sure. I believe we’re going to feed off each other and we’re going to help us in the long run. Can’t wait.”"

As you can see, Ojulari has no issues with Thibodeaux arriving to town and making a name for himself. If anything, the second-year ‘backer is ready to grind with Thibodeaux and help the rookie live up to his incredible hype. Thibodeaux was impressive at OTAs early on, but an injury unfortunately kept him off the field during minicamp.

Head coach Brian Daboll said he can’t guarantee that Thibodeaux will be ready to rock for the start of training camp either, with things all set to get started on July 26. With that said, there’s hope that Thibodeaux will be able to get back to 100 percent sooner than later. No one wants to head into Week 1 with the concern that he might not be set to take the field.

That’s something the Giants will have to worry about should that be the case, but the belief is that Thibodeaux will be just fine by then. Once he does return to practice, Thibodeaux will be ready to grind and make sure he’s in the best position possible to be a stud for new defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. Ojulari will make sure Thibodeaux is always pushing himself too. These two have the potential to be a frightening duo for opposing offensive lines to try and deal with.
