When the NY Giants decided to release Logan Ryan back in March, the decision really caught plenty of people off guard. The move saved only around $800,000 in cap space, and Ryan is a talented, veteran defensive back. Not having him out on the field in 2022 will surely sting for the G-Men.

With that said, it appears that Ryan’s days helping out the defense aren’t completely over. Thanks to a recent Twitter post, fans have been able to see the former Giant getting in some offseason workouts with young safety Xavier McKinney. The fact that Ryan is not only working out with McKinney, but undoubtedly giving him tips and advice too is wonderful to see.

Just because Ryan is now getting ready to suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and try and help Tom Brady win another Super Bowl, that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about his playing days in East Rutherford with the Giants. On top of that, he’s not going to hesitate in helping out a former teammate either.

McKinney is entering the 2022 campaign with some pretty big expectations. Last season, the third-year safety started 16 games for the Giants, recording 93 total tackles and an impressive five interceptions. With Ryan, Jabrill Peppers and James Bradberry all leaving town and landing with new teams, McKinney will be looked at to step up immensely.

Again, the loss of Ryan and his veteran leadership is going to be tough to replace for the Giants defense as a whole, but you’ve got to love the fact that McKinney is continuing to grind closely with him to keep on working on his game. With training camp around the corner too, McKinney is making sure to stay in top shape for when the first day of practice arrives.

There’s a long list of players who will need to live up to the hype this fall and winter if the Giants want to fully erase the 4-13 memories from last season. McKinney is all set to make plenty of noise there, while Ryan, despite no longer donning a Big Blue jersey, will surely be cheering him on from a distance too.
