Some pretty dang big news just arrived for the Chicago Bears, as the team traded a late-round pick for New England Patriots wideout N’Keal Harry. While that’s great for Justin Fields and the rest of the Chicago offense, this is also good news for the NY Giants and two players in particular: Darius Slayton and Kenny Golladay.

Throughout the offseason, both Slayton and Golladay had been mentioned as potential trade targets for teams. Golladay himself was linked with a potential move to the Windy City, which raised plenty of eyebrows. With the Bears going out and getting Harry, however, this should close the door on any speculation to continue.

NY Giants WRs Darius Slayton and Kenny Golladay should be staying put

While Slayton may not be getting traded, there’s still a chance that he’ll end up getting released before Week 1 arrives. The rumors have been swirling about that happening. With that said, Slayton was recently in North Carolina with other NY playmakers to get some offseason work in – with Daniel Jones being present and throwing the ball around.

Meanwhile for Golladay, it was pretty surprising to see his name mentioned with a potential deal to the Bears. The fact of the matter, though, is that Golladay was a major letdown during Year 1 with the G-Men last season, as he didn’t live up to the hype and somehow didn’t record a single touchdown with the squad.

When Golladay signed his monster contract with the Giants last offseason, just about everyone assumed that he’d be able to match the same kind of production that he did with the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Despite the rough 2021 showing, Golladay is hopeful he can blow up this upcoming campaign.

The fact that Daboll is now head coach and Mike Kafka is the offensive coordinator is going to be massive for so many different people. This obviously includes Jones and running back Saquon Barkley, but Golladay will also be given countless opportunities to show how great he can be this fall too.

Daboll’s offensive mindset is going to provide plenty of energy for the team and guys can’t wait for the regular season to arrive to make plays for him. This obviously will include Golladay, who will surely be jacked up to remind people of how talented he is. There’s no doubt in plenty of minds that he’ll be able to get that job done and thrive in the new, fun offense.
