The first week of NY Giants training camp is officially in the books. These first few days were important for Giants fans, as it gave everyone their first glimpse at how Brian Daboll, Wink Martindale and Mike Kafka operate as coaches.

While learning details of how Daboll will run the operation is important, it is even more important to find out how the players fit into his system. After a rough year just a season ago for many of the Giants stars, including Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay, Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones, and Darius Slayton, training camp will offer a peek into the realistic aspirations for the 2022 Giants. While some have struggled with their training camp start, others, including four pivotal pieces for the Giants, have shone. Here are the four players who have stood out so far at Giants training camp.

4. Darnay Holmes

Darnay Holmes, a 2020 third-round pick, has had an up and down NFL career so far. Coming into camp, Holmes had as much to prove to the new coaching staff as anyone on the Giants roster. Entrenched in a camp battle with rookie Cor’Dale Flott for the starting slot corner job, Holmes has balled out.

To start training camp on Tuesday, Holmes jumped a Jones throw to come away with a goal line interception.

Despite Holmes having a scary collision with a garbage can during practice on Thursday, where he needed to be helped off the field, Holmes returned Friday and continued his torment of Jones.

With Wink Martindale’s affinity for sending pressure, Holmes will be left on islands, and early indications are showing that he may be able to handle that. With his knack for getting to the ball too, it’s been great to see Holmes have such early success. The coaches have been lauding his efforts too. He’s been a nightmare for Jones and the rest of the offense. We’ll see if this continues the rest of the summer leading up to Week 1.
