1. LB Austin Calitro
In similar fashion to Meadors, Austin Calitro was seen as a bit of a longshot to make the NY Giants roster. However, the combination of a devastating injury to Darrian Beavers, alongside his fantastic game against the Jets may have guaranteed his spot on the team.
In Sunday’s game against the Jets, Calitro racked up five combined tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass deflection and an interception that he brought back for a TD in the second quarter.
Calitro was nothing short of fantastic this week, making play after play for the NY Giants defense. This is something the team needs at the linebacker position, as after Blake Martinez the depth is either weak, or unproven.
With uncertainty surrounding the NY Giants linebacker core, it is likely that the team looks to keep Calitro, as not only was his performance against the Jets very interesting to see but the position could use a veteran leader such as himself to add to the depth.
