Anonomous NFL GM gives amazing review of NY Giants OT Andrew Thomas
If you needed something to somehow get your more excited for Sunday’s season-opener against the Tennessee Titans, we’ve certainly got some positive news for you. And it’s that Andrew Thomas could be on his way to a massive year for the G-Men and first-year head coach Brian Daboll?
We sure thinks so, and so does an unnamed AFC general manager out there. When speaking with insider Jordan Schultz, the GM was asked to discuss one third-year player who he thinks has star potential. His answer was the NY starting left tackle.
NY Giants OT Andrew Thomas is set to have a big season for the G-Men
"“He’s matured a lot and become a more consistent player,” the GM told Schultz on the play of Thomas. “He’s a pretty rare athlete; tons of power, good feet, heavy-handed guy. Really like him.”"
You’ve simply got to love seeing that quote. After an up and down first year with the Giants, Thomas really looked fantastic in 2021. He was one of the few bright spots for this team, and now people are ready to see him take another big step this year. There’s belief that he could become a Pro Bowl offensive tackle.
It goes without saying, but he’s going to be a key player in helping Daniel Jones have a strong season too. We’ve said it time and time again, but Jones has to be on his A-game this year. In order for that to happen, he’ll need some time to stay in the pocket and scan the field. Thomas will be ready to do whatever he can to make sure Jones stays upright with consistency.
On top of that, running back Saquon Barkley will be depending on Thomas and the other hosses up front to open up some big holes for him.
All in all, there’s loads of excitement for this team this season and we can’t wait to see the Giants take the field against the Titans. The expectation is that Thomas will be able to start the year in style vs. the AFC South side.
