Well well well, what do we have here? While plenty of people have tried sweeping the comments made by Baker Mayfield about Daniel Jones under the rug, don’t think for a second that New York Giants fans weren’t thinking about it on Sunday. With Mayfield previously clowning on Jones and the G-Men, this had to be motivation for Danny Dimes and the team.

In the end, Mayfield, who was once taken No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns, played like hot garbage against the NY Giants and he suffered a 19-16 defeat at the hands of Jones and Co. As you might have been able to guess, Big Blue supporters aren’t wasting any time in letting Mayfield have it on social media.

Baker Mayfield choked against the NY Giants and Daniel Jones

On the day, Mayfield was 14-of-29, throwing for 145 yards and one touchdown. That’s about as average as you can be. Mayfield missed several throws. He just didn’t have the dog in him for this particular showdown, but Browns and now Panthers fans are realizing this guy doesn’t have what it takes to reach the next level. People in East Rutherford are loving it.

Yes indeed, people aren’t holding back going hard in the paint against Mayfield. People are quick to defend Jones, but it should be remembered that Danny Dimes didn’t have a perfect contest either – far from it. Despite helping the Giants to a 19-16 victory, Jones looked sluggish throughout this one himself.

People were calling for Tyrod Taylor to take over the offense once again. What’s so frustrating about Jones’ play is that he can make a brilliant throw, but then follow it up with a terrible decision soon after. He was very lucky the Panthers didn’t record a pick-six against him towards the end of the first half, as Frankie Luvu let an INT get away from him.

Jones still has a lot to work on. We’ll see if he’ll be able to put together a complete, solid performance against the Cowboys in Week 3 during Monday Night Football. As for Mayfield, he’s now 0-2 with the Panthers. He’s not going to want to check his Twitter mentions either.
