3. Keep feeding Saquon Barkley

The best story of the 2022 NFL season so far has been Saquon Barkley looking like his old self. After having a historic rookie season, Barkley has dealt with a laundry list of injuries over the course of the past three seasons, but he has come out with his hair on fire this season. Barkley has 236 rushing yards on 39 attempts over the first two weeks of the campaign, which leads the NFL.

Barkley was determined, angry, and ran with power in Week 1, but he was stymied in the first half against Carolina, rushing for just three yards. Daboll continued to feed Barkley in the second half, and he broke multiple big runs that set the Giants up to kick the two field goals that ultimately won the game. Barkley had 69 rushing yards in the second half, and had 88 total scrimmage yards.

The one big benefit for an angry Barkley this season is that the Giants have a much improved offensive line. Andrew Thomas is PFF’s No. 1 graded offensive lineman through the first two weeks of the season, and has just been moving people out of Barkley’s way.

While the Cowboys have a solid pass-rush, it is built around one superstar, Micah Parsons. Parsons lines up all over the defensive line, and if he gets matched up against Thomas, you can bet Thomas will slow him down. If the Giants can open up the slightest holes for Barkley, with the angry, physical way he’s been running this season, he will punish Cowboys defenders.
