With the NY Giants dealing with so many injuries on both sides of the ball, the last thing they need is the refs to have an impact in the game with the Green Bay Packers. In the first quarter, though, the zebras are already doing their best to help out Aaron Rodgers and the NFC North side as a whole.

On a deep ball, that tight end Robert Tonyan had no chance of even catching, defensive pass interference was called on safety Xavier McKinney. On which planet is this a penalty? Tonyan sold this with an Oscar-worthy dive, but there’s just no way the ref here should have thrown a flag. This is unacceptable and Giants fans are furious with how things played out.

Bogus penalty on NY Giants safety Xavier McKinney helped the Packers

If that’s not a complete and total flop from Tonyan while going up against McKinney, then we don’t know what is. With the laundry hitting the field, the Packers were set up with 1st-and-Goal deep in NY territory. Two plays later, Rodgers found wide reciever Allen Lazard for a short touchdown to increase the Green Bay advantage to 10-0. Again, NY supporters were furious with the result.

This game is complicated enough for the Giants. They don’t need bogus calls like this to go against them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Rodgers is simply too good to bet set up like this. We can only hope the refs don’t make any bone-headed decisions the rest of the way, but now G-Men supporters surely are going to be nervous something else goes down.

Meanwhile on offense for the Giants, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is going to have to make some adjustments to help the unit move the ball. The defense, other than the terrible call on McKinney, has looked sharp. The offense needs to find a way to get going for Brian Daboll as well.
