Leonard Williams returning is just what the NY Giants need to face Lamar Jackson

For the past three games, the New York Giants have been able to look fantastic on defense, doing so without star defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Williams suffered an MCL sprain and has been slowly but surely working his way back. Now, all signs are pointing to him being ready to rock for the Week 6 matchup with Baltimore.

It goes without saying, but this is a huge return for the Giants. Lamar Jackson is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, and the NY defense will have its hands full trying to slow him down.

Come Sunday, however, Dexter Lawrence, who has been a monster this year, will be ready to welcome back Williams up front. You know Wink Martindale is loving this too.

NY Giants DL Leonard Williams should play on Sunday vs. the Ravens

Before going down with his injury, Williams had posted seven tackles for the G-Men. Obviously, it sucked to see him go down and this team has surely missed him at times. Luckily, Lawrence has been a force in the trenches, leading the team with his three sacks.

Lawrence has been so good, even Aaron Rodgers had to show him major love earlier this week. For Martindale, he’ll now be welcoming back Williams and the timing is perfect. Jackson is such a nightmare to deal with. However, Williams and Lawrence teaming up on the inside is going to have fans at MetLife Stadium fired up.

With Azeez Ojulari working his way back from injury as well, him and Kayvon Thibodeaux applying pressure from the outside is fun to think about. All in all, the pass-rush is going to be close to full strength for this tilt.

Martindale loves putting pressure on opposing QBs and that will 100 percent be the case going up against Jackson. With Williams back in full force, it’s only going to make things worse for the Baltimore offensive line. Sorry, we’re not sorry about that.
