Why in the world are Saquon Barkley trade rumors still coming up? With the NY Giants at 4-1, Barkley has been the main reason, along with the defense, why this team has done a complete 180. Actually, don’t let us disrespect Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen, as they’ve been a gift sent from above for Giants fans.

With Barkley, though, he leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage and has looked like his old self once again. People in New Jersey and New York would be ready to riot if Schoen traded him. The nice folks over at ESPN don’t know this, though. Reporter Bill Barnwell pitched some trade ideas for teams, including the Bills going after Barkley. Yeah, this proposal isn’t going down… ever.

The NY Giants would be foolish to trade Saquon Barkley to the Buffalo Bills

Zack Moss… Seriously? While that second-round pick is somewhat appealing, especially considering Barkley is on the last year of his contract, this is nowhere near enough to get the Giants to part ways with No. 26. With the Giants stunning the Packers in Week 5, the morale for the organization couldn’t be higher.

Imagine if they were to trade Saquon. The fanbase would go into panic mode and this would send a terrible message to Daniel Jones. You really think Moss is going to be able to come in and do the kinds of things Barkley has been able to for Mike Kafka’s offense? No disrespect to Moss, but, uh, no.

There’s plenty of worry about Barkley leaving after this season, but don’t forget that he loves the New York area and he’s said multiple times that he believes in this team and the direction things are headed. Barkley wants to be back next season and it will be on Schoen and Co. to decide if they want him back or not for the right price.

Through five games, Barkley has rushed for 533 yards and three touchdowns. In addition, he’s caught 18 balls for 143 yards. He’s far too valuable to be move before the trade deadline. Sorry ESPN, get back to the drawing board with your trade ideas. Barkley is here to stay and he won’t be packing his bags for Buffalo this fall.
