It’s the Danny Dimes show and everyone is enjoying watching these days. With the NY Giants at 6-1, things are going great for Daniel Jones and head coach Brian Daboll. In the road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon, Jones looked fantastic, throwing for 202 yards and a touchdown.

Not only that, but he rushed for 107 yards and another score. Jones became the first Giants QB to rush for at least 100 yards in a contest since 1934. This kid can do it all! In what’s a contract year for No. 8, he is turning heads and doing so in style. Thanks to his performance vs. Jacksonville, Jones was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

No one can argue that he deserved this honor. Now, though, it’s only making the case to bring him back for next season and beyond even stronger. That’s right, Jones is playing his way to a new contract from the G-Men.

NY Giants QB Daniel Jones named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

While Jones has been far from perfect this season, he’s done more than enough to help this team start off the year 6-1, and he’s done so with mostly practice-squad caliber receivers catching the ball from him. Both Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay were expected to be playmakers for him this year, but they’ve basically been non-existent.

Instead, players like Daniel Bellinger, Richie James and Marcus Johnson have had to step in and be reliable options for Jones. Bellinger is third on the team with his 16 receptions, but it’s unknown if he’ll play again this campaign due to his serious eye injury.

Now, Jones is going to have to overcome even more adversity without Bellinger able to catch passes from him, but something tells us he’ll get the job done against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8 regardless. Luckily, Wan’Dale Robinson is back to full health. The rookie speedster will need to ball out for Jones moving forward.

When the Giants front office decided to pass on picking up Jones’ fifth-year option, it felt like the writing was on the wall for his future. No one expected Jones to make it past this season, with a lot of folks calling for Tyrod Taylor to be the starter over him in 2022 as well. Instead, Jones has looked sharp and he’s winning over the fanbase again.

Come this offseason, it feels like the right move will be to keep bringing in studs on offense to help Jones out and fully back him up with a new contract. We’ll find out this offseason if that happens or not, but if Jones keeps producing at this high of a level, and even brings home another NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor or two, then the decision will be easy for Schoen and Co.
