Xavier McKinney wasn’t the only NY Giants player riding an ATV during the bye week

There’s undoubtedly plenty of upset people in East Rutherford, with general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll at the top of the list. That’s because star safety Xavier McKinney took a trip to Cabo during the team’s bye week and suffered a broken hand as a result of an accident while riding an ATV.

Even when the NY Giants aren’t in action, the team’s players somehow find a way to get themselves injured. Guys being banged up has been a growing issue for the team in 2022, and a player of McKinney’s caliber going down is a massive deal.

As it turns out, McKinney wasn’t alone in enjoying some time on an ATV during the bye week, as outside linebacker Jihad Ward took to Instagram over the weekend before the McKinney news was made public.

NY Giants S Xavier McKinney will be sidelined multiple weeks after his ATV accident

Fellas, come on! While no one is saying these young men shouldn’t have fun during their time off, there’s no reason for them to be putting themselves in danger like this. Ward is lucky he didn’t suffer any kind of an injury. Adoree’ Jackson commented on Ward’s post saying it’s time for him to learn how to ride. Adoree’, we beg of you, please wait until the spring or early summer.

McKinney won’t be able to suit up for the Week 10 showdown against the Houston Texans. Next weekend, the Detroit Lions head to town and then the G-Men will fly to Dallas to take on the Cowboys for a Thanksgiving Day showdown. McKinney will miss those matchups, plus Week 13 too.

The Giants aren’t going to cut McKinney for his fun in Cabo, but his teammates need to learn from his error and be more careful when they’re away from the squad. The Giants are 6-2 on the year and have what it takes to surprise some folks come January.

No one wants to see the campaign be put in jeopardy because of key players making questionable decisions when they’re not near the training facility. McKinney, Ward and others can’t make these kinds of mistakes again.
