Lost in the anger of the Week 12 loss to the Dallas Cowboys has to be the strong play of NY Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates. Back from his gruesome injury last season, Gates is at center for head man Brian Daboll and he’s done a bang-up in recent weeks. Just ask Dallas about that.

More specifically, safety Jayron Kearse is going to be happy the G-Men and Cowboys don’t face off again this season. On one play in particular, Gates snapped the ball to Daniel Jones and then moved to his right to block. He and Kearse met and the NY center tossed him to the ground in a move that would make Stone Cold Steve Austin proud.

NY Giants OL Nick Gates is back and better than ever

That play was so good that even team legend Carl Banks had to show the Big Blue hoss some major love on Twitter. Gates really turned a lot of heads in this sequence, reminding people of how good he can be for this offensive line.

What makes Gates so special too is that he’s quite versatile, having the ability to line up at several positions. Center looks to be his best spot for the Giants and fans sure are glad to have him back. He plays with a ton of passion and he’s not going to let anyone manhandle him.

If anything, Gates will be the one to deliver some pain week in and week out. Most of the game against the Cowboys was tough to watch in the second half, but Gates has been a pleasure to see on the field since he worked his tail off in his rehab to get back in action.

More fantastic plays like this will surely be on the way for him. After all he’s been through, this kid deserves a ton of praise.
