Are we getting close to a decision? Odell Beckham Jr. had his meeting with the NY Giants last week and things went well. Now, the Cowboys and Bills are going to try and catch his attention. Each team will present a good opportunity for Beckham, but the Giants have some advantages the others just don’t have.
The Bills and Cowboys are going to try and sell him on trying to win a Super Bowl this year, but for his long-term future, it feels like a return to East Rutherford would be best for No. 13. What will OBJ end up deciding?
Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to make his decision this week
The Giants are the weakest of the three teams still in the hunt in terms of trying to bring home the Lombardi Trophy, but there’s a lot of strong selling points for Beckham to consider. For one, it would be a chance to come home for the veteran wideout. Things ended in sour fashion in New York and for Beckham to even consider a return to NY means he has faith in ownership and the new regime.
General manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are building something strong. Dave Gettleman is no longer with the NY Giants and one has to wonder if it would mean something for Beckham to make his return after Gettleman hurt the franchise for so long. Maybe it would give Beckham some closure to return to the team that drafted him. He’s said in the past how much he still wants to bring a Super Bowl title to New York.
Don’t forget that Beckham is close with Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard and Eli Manning. There’s surely other NY greats who are hoping Beckham returns. You already know Barkley and Shepard are keeing their fingers crossed Beckham returns.
If the NY Giants can prove they want Beckham to be part of future plans in his contract, then this could be the place for him. Beckham could arrive to MetLife Stadium and immediately be the No. 1 receiver for this team. With his close relationship with current players, plus his familiarity with the area, it could be enough to help the G-Men land him.
