Lawrence Taylor doesn’t hold back with strong message for NY Giants defense
The narrative has been discussed countless times over the past few days. It’s win or watch the playoffs from home for the NY Giants. This team, which started the campaign 6-1 on the year, has looked rough over the past month and fans have grown increasingly frustrated with how the squad has played on both sides of the ball.
Hall-of-Famer and Giants great Lawrence Taylor is on the long list of people who hasn’t been pleased with how things have gone. On defense against the Commanders, Taylor wants to see Wink Martindale’s unit show some heart and play with passion.
Actually, LT decided to take things to a new level in his message to the guys on D through an interview with the New York Post.
Lawrence Taylor had some powerful words for the NY Giants
"“Show me some Nuts! It’s a prime-time game, the playoffs are on the line,” a passionate Taylor said via the NY post. “You just said everything you need to know about that game. Everything else is just preparation. Let’s do this, OK? Let’s do this. You already know what’s at stake, all right? If you can’t play when everything you ever dreamed of and everything that you want is put into one game, if you can’t rise to that challenge, then what’s left?”"
Taylor is right here. This is the kind of game that should fire up all of the players to deliver. The postseason indeed feels like it’s on the line, because if the G-Men suffer a loss to the Commanders on Sunday night, their chances of grabbing an NFC Wild Card spot will drop dramatically.
With a win, though, the Giants will be in fantastic position to keep playing beyond Week 18. Countless eyes will be on Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, but Taylor wants to see the defense step things up. Could a sack or two be on the way for Kayvon Thibodeaux? How about Azeez Ojulari?
We’ll find out soon enough, and you better believe that Taylor will be watching this one closely. He wants to see Big Blue push through and record the needed victory with the world watching.
