1. Ohio State LB Tommy Eichenberg

The linebacker position has been a weak point for the Giants for some time now. Heading into the 2022 season, it appeared that they had finally established a strong group with Blake Martinez and Tae Crowder set to lead. They also addressed the position in the draft, adding both Darian Beavers and Micah McFadden.

Now heading into Week 17, Martinez has retired, Crowder is gone and with the Steelers, Beavers is out with a torn ACL, and McFadden is the last man standing from the original group. With the current state of the position, the Giants could address the position early in the NFL Draft. Ohio State’s Tommy Eichenberg could be a solid option for this defense.

Following a strong season in 2021, Eichenberg has fully burst onto the scene in 2022. Through 12 games, he has been the leader of the Ohio State defense. He has totaled 112 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2.5 total sacks, three defended passes and one interception on the season.

Eichenberg has all the makings of a solid NFL linebacker. He is seen moving around the entire defense, constantly making his presence felt. With 72 solo tackles, he has also proven that he can win one-on-one matchups.

A young linebacker core of Eichenberg, Beavers and McFadden could eventually develop into a strong group. The Ohio State product is a player the Giants should keep an eye on this weekend.
