NY Giants Round 2 pick: Maryland CB Deonte Banks

The Giants have a need at the cornerback position. Apart from Adoree’ Jackson, the group struggled to be productive. By adding Maryland’s Deonte Banks, this defense could add an immediate starter. During his four seasons at Maryland, Banks showed legitimate upside. In total, he took the field in 29 total games. He recorded 83 total tackles, 61 solo tackles, two interceptions, and 11 defended passes.

In his final season, Banks played the best football of his career. Over 12 games, he recorded 38 total tackles, 25 solo tackles, eight defended passes, and one interception.

Banks would immediately improve the Giants secondary. With his arrival, the group would be gaining a player who has the potential to become a legitimate CB1. He also has a style that would fit perfectly in this Wink Martindale-led defense.
