Hang on to your hats, folks. Could NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen end up shocking us all once the first round of the NFL Draft arrives? That’s what CBS’ Chris Trapasso has on his mind, as he just dropped his latest Mock Draft and it has us up off of our seats.

Trapasso doesn’t think the G-Men will be waiting until late in the first round to send in their first pick. No no, he predicts that the Giants will trade up with the Atlanta Falcons to use their No. 8 overall pick on star Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Well then, goodbye Daniel Jones and hello to one of the most explosive playmakers in the 2023 class?

C.J. Stroud would be a dream addition for the NY Giants

"“The Giants see Stroud slipping and pounce,” Trapasso wrote on New York and Stroud. “He has All-Pro upside as a passer. They (Giants) trade away pick No. 26 overall, their second-round pick (No. 58 overall), and 2024 first-round and fourth-round picks.”"

This really would be something to see, as Stroud is an exciting playmaker. He’s coming off an incredible season with Ohio State, which led to him finishing third in the Heisman Trophy voting. In 2022, Stroud tossed for 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns and only six interceptions. His 88.9 QBR was second in the nation behind Tennessee signal-caller Hendon Hooker.

If this trade were somehow to go down, that would put an end to the Daniel Jones era with Big Blue. Right now, Schoen is trying to figure out what to do with the fifth-year signal-caller, with the non-exclusive franchise tag looking like the best option.

However, there’s also a chance Jones comes to his senses and lowers his asking price, which is reportedly around $45 million a year. Then again, there’s always a chance Schoen lets him walk too.

As unrealistic as that seems, with NY prioritizing getting him back in East Rutherford next season, you really never know what might happen on draft night. Stroud to NY? It almost sounds too good to be true.
