There are plenty of NY Giants fans who are still in disbelief that tight end Darren Waller will be catching balls from Daniel Jones next season. The blockbuster trade between the Raiders and G-Men on Tuesday turned the NFL world upside down for a few hours. But just how in the world did this all go down?
Well, perhaps it was a silly mistake from Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels that got the wheels in motion. According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, there was some beef between Waller and McDaniels after the young HC accidentally spilled the beans that the stud TE was about to get married.
Waller didn’t like that one bit – McDaniels wasn’t invited to his wedding with WNBA standout Kelsey Plum either. Oh boy.
Waller was upset with McDaniels when the Las Vegas Review-Journal posted a story announcing the wedding was scheduled later in the week. The couple had not publicly announced their plans to get married.

Josh McDaniels may have helped the NY Giants land tight end Darren Waller
Hey coach McDaniels, maybe learn to keep your mouth shut about the personal lives of your players? Waller and his then soon-to-be-wife were clearly upset, as their special moment was ruined a bit. There was quite a bit of tension, and now Waller indeed is headed to East Rutherford.
It didn’t take much either, as the G-Men sent Las Vegas a third-round pick in exchange for one of the best tight ends in the game. That third-round pick, the No. 100 overall selection, was the one the Giants received in the trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for Kadarius Toney. That’s pretty damn good business from Joe Schoen if you ask us.
Giants fans everywhere are thrilled with Schoen being able to get this done, but folks in Sin City are about to hit the panic button. Already this season, Las Vegas has said goodbye to Derek Carr and replaced him with Jimmy Garoppolo. Now, the offense has lost a major weapon in Waller, which led to running back Josh Jacobs voicing his anger on Twitter as well.
Things just continue to be a mess for the Raiders. Luckily for the Giants, business has been booming, highlighted by the Waller trade and the four-year deal for linebacker Bobby Okereke.

4 WRs the NY Giants can still target in free agency
The Giants desperately need wide reciever help, and there are some intriguing names still left on the free agent market for Joe Schoen to go after.
