Things sure have changed for the NY Giants ever since Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll got to town. Before, let’s be real, free agents had no desire to head to East Rutherford to play for Big Blue. Now that Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman have nothing to do with the organization, though, that’s no longer the case.
Instead, players can see the change in the culture for the G-Men and they want to be part of things. Take new linebacker Bobby Okereke for example. While speaking to the media, he didn’t hesitate in saying that the Giants were his top choice. Okereke wanted to play for Coach Dabes and Co.
Giants LB Bobby Okereke is thrilled to be with the team
"“This was unique because it was a great offer and a great team fit,” Okereke said via the Giants team website. “Obviously, this defense is just really good. I got two great guys playing in front of me (Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams). Two good guys on the edge (Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari). Really, the whole defense is doing well. This offense is playing really well and playing really well toward this past year, end of the season. So, just excited to be part of the rise.”"
Okereke has been the splash free-agent signing for the G-Men thus far this offseason, with Schoen addressing a major position of need. No one – and we mean no one – wanted to see Jaylon Smith and Tae Crowder seeing significant playing time for this squad in 2023. Okereke arriving has been a major breath of fresh air for the defense.
Okereke is also a tackle machine, as he posted 151 stops last season. On top of that, he recorded two interceptions and five pass deflections. There are some huge expectations for him now that he has signed his four-year, $40 million deal.
Giants fans out there have no doubts in their minds that he’ll live up to the hype. Okereke has what it takes to be a leader for this defense. Plenty of people can’t wait to see what he’ll be able to get done for NY in 2023.
Giants QB Daniel Jones keeps making Baker Mayfield look like a clown
With Daniel Jones signing his massive deal this offseason, it continues to make Baker Mayfield look worse for his silly comments.
