With just one preseason game remaining, it's put up or shut up time for players further down on the depth chart. If those same players want to make it onto the New York Giants' roster, they'll need to bring everything to the field this weekend in the preseason finale.
Through two preseason games so far, there have been players who previously didn't feel like roster locks who might have put themselves in that category. Let's look at three Giants sleepers who went from being likely roster cuts to now being tough players to consider parting ways with.
3 Giants sleepers lighting it up in preseason
Elijah Chatman
Anytime a player goes undrafted, he's already at a huge disadvantage. Elijah Chatman found himself in this position just a few months ago, going undrafted out of SMU and then having to work like hell to make a name for himself.
Well, not only has Chatman made a name for himself but he might have even done so at a position that he wasn't even planning on playing if he made the team. Chatman, who is listed as a defensive tackle, could end up playing fullback for the Giants and that versatility could very well be what lands him on the roster.
Beaux Collins
There are four wide receivers who are pretty much locks to make the Giants' roster. Those guys are Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt. If the Giants roster six receivers, which feels likely, that leaves two spots.
This is a bit unfortunate because there are three receivers who have proven worthy of making the final roster. One of those three is Beaux Collins, an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame, who has established quite the connection with Russell Wilson throughout the preseason.
The 80-yard pass from Wilson to Collins against the Jets really showed how special this duo can be and it feels increasingly difficult to leave the Notre Dame product off the roster now, especially if Wilson is the starting quarterback.
Dante "Turbo" Miller
We all know that Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and Cam Skattebo are making the team. There's no debating that. The curveball that's been thrown at the Giants this summer has been the emergence of Dante Miller, also known as Turbo.
The former UDFA isn't a rookie and isn't new to the Giants, having spent last year on the team's practice squad and actually appearing in two games for them during the regular season. Still, he qualifies as a sleeper because he was nowhere near being a roster lock before the summer activities started and now, it feels like he's worked his way onto the roster after putting in the work in the preseason.
Not only has Miller showed up big in the run game but he's shown his worth as a pass-catcher too, hauling in four grabs for 43 yards in the win over the Jets. The Giants are going to value that kind of versatility and Miller will likely be rewarded with a roster spot.
