Aaron Rodgers revelation confirms NY Giants tip-toed around disaster

The NY Giants might not be in the best situation imaginable when it comes to their quarterback room but, as the Pittsburgh Steelers are learning with Aaron Rodgers, it could be a lot worse. The Giants had previously been in the Rodgers sweepstakes but opted to sign Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to their roster for the 2025 season.

Meanwhile, the Steelers remain the only true option for Rodgers if he wants to play in 2025 and yet, he's still unsigned. That didn't stop Rodgers from appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday and talking about why he's unsigned.

Rodgers essentially said that he's not stringing anyone along and that he has a lot going on in his life. That being said, it wasn't hard to hear the regret in his voice that some teams (the Giants being one of them) pulled out of the race first. He even mentioned meeting with the Giants, noting, "I did have some great conversations with Brian Daboll and he's a really bright football mind".

NY Giants made the right call not signing Aaron Rodgers

Had the Giants opted not to bring Wilson and/or Winston in, perhaps they'd still be waiting for Rodgers to decide between them and the Steelers. Sure, Wilson and Winston aren't going to be the guys to turn things around for this franchise but Rodgers wouldn't have been that guy either, not at 41 going on 42 years old.

The Giants saved themselves from dealing with Rodgers' theatrics and that's the best outcome here. Had they not made the decision to pull out of the race, they could still be without a quarterback for the 2025 season. They didn't give Rodgers that power so kudos to Joe Schoen for not taking the bait and doing what the team needed to do, which was not sign Rodgers.
