There's been a lot of talk surrounding New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. From the 'he needs to learn how to slide' crowd to the 'Giants should draft Indiana superstar QB Fernando Mendoza No. 1 overall if they have the pick' crowd, even his dating life is under the microscope.
There is nowhere to hide for the 22-year-old. Welcome to New York.
Speaking of relentless media attention, ESPN's morning show Get Up took part in the Dart-Mendoza hysteria, discussing the G-Men's best option at QB for next season. College football analyst -- and Aaron Rodgers' younger brother -- Jordan Rodgers came to the rescue to put this nonsense away for good.
After talking about Mendoza -- even suggesting Dart would’ve been in the conversation to go ahead of him had they entered the same draft -- Rodgers casually dropped strongest football compliments you can give a young quarterback:
"I love Jaxson [Dart]. He did it without Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo for most of the time, as well. He's a dude you gotta build around, because he could be the next Josh Allen."
But they should still consider drafting Mendoza, right?
Jaxson Dart earning Josh Allen comps after breakout rookie season
Comparing anyone to the reigning MVP is tough, but even just being mentioned in the same sentence confirms the Ole Miss product is doing just about everything right. His main selling point was about the damage both of them can do with their legs, something true pocket passers can't take advantage of.
Related: Jaxson Dart just confirmed what Giants fans hoped was true about Brian Daboll
Dart was getting some Allen comps during the draft process, and especially with Brian Daboll as his head coach, the comparisons wrote themselves. Becoming anywhere near the next Josh Allen is certifiably lofty, but the claims might not be as baseless as fans might think.

When you look at where Dart lands, he’s sitting right next to Allen and Patrick Mahomes (which is so sweet) in terms of creating value once plays break down.
That doesn’t necessarily mean he belongs in their tier, but it does back up the idea that his game translates when things around him fall apart. It’s a small data point, but one that helps explain why national voices like Rodgers are even comfortable mentioning him in the same breath as one of the league’s most dangerous off-script quarterbacks.
Additionally, during NY's Week 15 game against the Washington Commanders, FOX displayed a Dart-inspired graphic that compared the rookie to Matthew Stafford and, of course, Allen. The rookie is in rarified airspace, as he trails the two future Hall of Famers in most total TDs per game as a starter with 2.3:

In short, knock it off. Jaxson Dart is him. The Giants have spent the better part of a decade searching for this exact kind of quarterback. There’s no reason to even entertain anyone else leading them out of this mess. If he turns into Josh Allen, great -- just with a little more playoff success and a couple of Super Bowl rings, if it's not too much to ask.
